Stung Treng in red – google maps

This year I will be missing the English summer in order to spend 3 months in
the Cambodian wet season. I will be living with a family in their home in the rural province of Stung Treng (northeast Cambodia), more specifically within the Sre Krosang commune, in Siem Bouk District.

Through the International Citizen Service, I am being funded by the UK government to support the Cambodian Education Project being run by VSO; I will be laying the foundations for a project that aims to develop education in rural areas to ensure a system that supports young people in gaining the skills and knowledge for personal and financial development.

This blog is a place for me to document my experiences and also a form of communication with everyone at home, particularly those who have been so kind as to donate to VSO and its partners during my fundraising efforts. I am not a member of staff of any of these organisations and all pictures/opinions/etc are my own unless otherwise stated.

To find out more about the project, check out my page here.

If you’re interested in volunteering 3+ months abroad for almost no expense and are

  • UK/EU/EEA citizen or have indefinite leave to remain in the UK
  • able to commit to fundraising and training prior to placement abroad

Check out ICS here and think about applying.
